More About This Trip
Moab’s surreal landscapes are an off-roading utopia. With sloping avenues of Slickrock and terracotta, getting to the backcountry of Mars on Earth is a surprisingly short commute.
While we’ve got nothing against a good old fashioned ramble through the desert, taking a scenic Jeep Tour can be a much more effective and comfortable way to reach the area’s signature sites.
Our specially designed, open-air vehicles let passengers get a taste for four-wheeling on the red-rocks. Those looking to teeter the tires and surge with adrenaline cliffside need not apply for this tour.
What is extreme are the viewpoints, not the ride itself. Our routes cruise through crumbling canyons, gravity-defying hoodoos, hidden spires and precious petroglyphs.
In between stops for photos and exploring the sites, your guide will provide explanations of Moab’s insane geology and drama-filled history.
This tour allows passengers to immerse themselves in this unique terrain while learning about what made it this way— and who in the world survived out here before air conditioning.
The scenic off-road Jeep Tour is a great addition to any itinerary and lasts 4 hours.

We just finished the half day river rafting experience out of Moab Utah. It was wonderful. The safety information at the beginning was very reassuring. All of the guides were friendly and approachable. Our Guide was Griffin who was just perfect. He was easy going and very competent. He was knowledgeable about the geological formations and the history of the land. He gave us a choice of paddling or not paddling and clearly knew the river very well. He provided us with many opportunities to jump into the water and then helped people back into the raft. After having been to Arches National Park the day before this was a perfect complement to see the magnificent rock formations while smoothly gliding by. The people in the office we're very accurate in their description of this experience. Most of the time we were gliding along with periodic rapids that were not challenging. Everything about this day was a delight.Posted on Google

I had such an incredible experience with Mild to Wild Rafting & Jeep Tours in Moab! I went white water rafting with them today, and it was easily one of the highlights of my time in Moab. From start to finish, the entire experience was fun, well organized, and memorable. The team was friendly, knowledgeable, and made everyone feel comfortable while still keeping the trip exciting. They did a fantastic job explaining everything, keeping us safe, and making sure we were having a great time along the way. I had Annie as my tour guide and I can not provide enough praise! She made it so fun for us! Rafting through the beautiful Moab scenery was absolutely incredible—the views alone are worth the trip, but experiencing them from the river made it even better! If you're visiting Moab and looking for an adventure, I highly recommend Mild to Wild Rafting & Jeep Tours. Whether you're an experienced rafter or trying it for the first time, they make the whole experience fantastic. I would absolutely book with them again! Thank you to the Mild to Wild team for such a fun and unforgettable day!Posted on Google

This company has excellent customer service. As we were arriving in Moab on the Canyon Spirit train without a car, they agreed to pick us up at our hotel. The train arrived a bit late but our driver texted us not to worry. Alec gave us an excellent tour of the beautiful Arches National Park. We stopped at most of the highlights and got to get out of the comfortable van and for some hikes. Alec knew a lot about the park and it's history. So much better then a crowded bus or driving ourselves ! Only problem is that now we will have to return to Moab to try some other tours with Mild to Wild.Posted on Google

Jackson and Josie were outstanding guides. Starting with booking, Mild to Wild offered a unique experience that met our groups needs. As soon as we arrived in Moab they were accommodating with our packing and provided everything we needed prior to departure. On the river they were thorough and professional. The rapids through cataract canyon were top notch. Thanks again for everything. I would highly recommend!Posted on Google

Nina was an excellent guide for our family with young kiddos! She was super patient with all their questions and even let them help her row. Such a fun, memorable half day rafting afternoon. It was the perfect way to cool off in the Moab summer.

Moab Jeep Tour FAQs
When is the best time for a Jeep tour in Moab?
Anytime during our season (March through November) is a fantastic time to hit the trails. Each month offers a different way to experience the backcountry:
- Spring & Fall: These months are famous for their mild temperatures and perfect “all-day” trekking weather. It’s the classic Moab experience for exploring deep into the canyons.
- Summer: If you’re visiting in the summer, you’re in for a treat. The desert sun makes the red rocks glow with an intensity you won’t see any other time of year. We tailor our summer departures to the early mornings and late afternoons, capturing the “Golden Hour” when the shadows are long, the colors are vivid, and the breeze is refreshing. It’s the ultimate way to see the desert in its most vibrant light!
When can I go on a Moab Jeep tour?
Our Moab Jeep tours typically run from March through November. We offer several departures daily, including morning and afternoon trips. Our open-air Jeeps are equipped with canvas tops for shade, and we provide blankets for those crisp desert mornings, we can get you out on the trails comfortably throughout the entire season.
What is the minimum age for a Moab Jeep tour?
The minimum age for our Moab Jeep tours is 4 years old. Our custom-converted open-air Jeeps are designed for optimal viewing and comfort. Please keep in mind that the trails involve bumpy terrain and sandstone slickrock, which younger adventurers usually find quite exciting! Utah law requires car seats for children 8 and under (or shorter than 4’9”). Please bring your own car seat if this applies to a member in your group.
What should I wear and bring on my Moab Jeep tour?
Moab’s weather can be unpredictable, so dressing in layers is the key to comfort. We recommend:
- Clothing: A lightweight long-sleeve shirt (UPF-rated is best) to protect from the sun, and a sweatshirt or light jacket for morning tours or sudden rain showers.
- Footwear: Sturdy hiking shoes or sneakers.
- Essentials: A hat that covers your face and neck, sunglasses, and a cooling bandana for the hot summer months.
- Gear: A refillable water bottle (we provide cooled water for refills), extra sunscreen to reapply every 90 minutes, and your camera.
Visit our full What to Wear and Bring page to learn more.
Are Jeep tours in Moab safe?
Off-road Jeep touring is an inherently dangerous activity that involves travel over rugged, uneven terrain; therefore, we require all guests to sign a liability waiver and assumption of risk. To minimize these risks, we use roll-cage-equipped and highly maintained vehicles. Our tours are led by professional, interpretive, and entertaining guides who are trained in off-road driving and certified in CPR and First Aid.
What is the best jeep tour in Moab for families?
Our Moab Jeep tours are a spectacular adventure for the whole family! Kids love riding in our custom converted open air jeeps. Additionally, we bring a scavenger hunt for them to follow along the tour, and they get a junior guide pin to take home after their trip! Along the route we make lots of stops to explore geologic and archeological sites on short walks and hikes.
