Why Choose Mild to Wild
In addition to being rated #1 on Tripadvisor, Mild to Wild is voted as the Durango’s Best Rafting Company by the Durango Herald. We’re not all about the awards here at Mild to Wild though, here’s 8 more reasons that set Mild to Wild Rafting & Jeep Tours apart.
Experience
We’ve been connecting family and friends through nature and adventure for 30 years! We are known as the Southwest’s Whitewater & Adventure Experts, just ask the locals!
State Certified Guide Training Program
Our in-house guide training assures that we put the most experienced, qualified guides on the rivers and trails where we run our trips. Our training greatly exceeds the state requirements for a higher level of professionalism. Your guide is trained in river rescue, interpretive, and customer service skills, as well as First Aid and CPR.
Exclusive Guarantee
If you are not absolutely delighted with our guides & river equipment, the trip is FREE. This confidence in our service is unparalleled in the industry. We serve over 20,000 “absolutely delighted” customers annually.
Year-Round Reservation Service
Our friendly and helpful staff is available year-round to plan the best trip for you, as well as assist with lodging and other activities. Our reservationists work out of our Durango office, giving you the best local insight to help you plan a spectacular visit to the Southwest. Call 970-247-4789 or make a reservation online with us!
Family Focus / Owner Commitment
We are a family! The owners Alex and Molly Mickel help manage daily operations, guide trips, make reservations, and greet guests. Their four children have also become part of the business, from guiding trips to helping out in the office. Whether you’re rafting with us in Utah, Colorado, or Arizona, you’re bound to see a Mickel somewhere in the mix! Let us know what we can do to serve you and your family!
Complete, 1st Class Trip Provisions
We provide state of the art, self-bailing rafts, and equipment, quality shuttle vehicles, professional guides, free helmets, free Coast Guard Approved PFDs (life jackets), free splash gear, safety orientation, our unparalleled guarantee, a complete line of rentals, and a full-service store with essential river goodies including personalized photos of the trip. We offer changing rooms, bathrooms, free parking, and a return shuttle.
Extra Safety Precautions
Our trip leaders average 2,000 river miles of experience, far exceeding the 750 required by the state of Colorado. Every trip with Mild to Wild begins with a safety orientation, and we offer free helmets and PFD on all our trips, along with wetsuit rentals for our early spring and high-water rafting trips. During high-flows on the Lower Animas, we stop to walk younger children around the largest rapid section of the river to ensure their safety.
Group Experience
The challenge of the river and the team orientation that comes with rafting make for the ideal group outing, whether you’re organizing a reunion, corporate outing, youth, church, or scout group. Our extensive experience in leading motivational and group bonding trips, along with our diverse trip offerings allow us to create the experience that is ideal for your group. Call us to discuss your needs and make yourself the hero of your group!
