Moab Area Rafting & Kayaking
Moab Utah rafting and kayaking options. Our favorite way to beat Moab’s heat is to get out on the river. You can float, splash, laugh, scream- and it doesn’t all have to be at the same time. Some people don’t look at class V rapids with warmth in their hearts, while the joy of adrenaline swells with the current for others. For the faint of heart to thrill-seekers, there’s a river trip everyone can find refreshing.
The Utah desert is a place for reflection, adventure, and plump beads of sweat rolling down your face like merry school children on a hillside. Just let those salty forehead tears roll like the good times, the rivers are waiting for any mug in need of a good splash. If you want to get rowdy, there’s plenty of sass in the whitewater waiting to oblige. Or maybe you just want to stay on the water’s sweeter (flatter) side. Here are a few things to consider when choosing the right trip for your Utah rafting adventure.
The rafting and kayaking season in Moab lasts from April to October. In this six month stretch, the peak season for high water is usually in June when spring days start cooking away from the snowpack. If you want a more mild whitewater experience, we suggest getting on the rivers before or after June. This always depends on the weather however, so don’t be shy in asking about CFS.

Castle Valley – Relax, Cool Off, and Look Over There!
A staple Moab Utah rafting and kayaking option. The Castle Valley trip floats you through a red rock canyon with extraordinary views. This drift is great for families and folks looking to chill on easy water with a little dose of class II rapids in between. It’s a perfect place to swim, kayak, and gawk at those crazy Fisher Towers. You can explore this section of the Colorado River for half-day and multi-day trips.Moab, UT Rafting – Castle Valley

San Miguel – Do the Twist!
You’ve got mountains to the left, desert to your right, and class II rapids the whole time. The San Miguel River flows in a tight canyon where guests need to help paddle around rocks and bends. This bumpy waterway moves at a quick pace past aspen groves and red sandstone walls. You can raft the San Miguel for half-day to 3-day trips. The age requirement for the upper section is 10-years-old while the more mild lower section is 8-years-old.

Desolation Canyon – Dive into Warm Water and a lot of History
Rafting through Desolation Canyon is a great intermediate trip. The start includes a flight above the canyon, so you get to see the river from all angles! The Green River offers class III rapids and history lessons you’ll actually enjoy. Ancient ruins, dinosaur sites, and Butch Cassidy hideouts remain nestled in rock walls taller than the Grand Canyon at times. You can make this gargantuan wilderness your home for 4 to 6 days on a rafting trip.Desolation Canyon Rafting on The Green River

Cataract Canyon – Hold on Tight Friends, the Water Roars!
Cataract Canyon is Utah whitewater at its best. This is a high adventure, multi-day trip through Canyonlands National Park. Depending on the time of year, the Colorado River will form class V rapids beneath the towering sandstone, but you can always count on class III and IV drops and splashes. While the rapids are impressive, you’ll have plenty of time to cruise past sites like Dead Horse Point and Anasazi pictographs. You can raft two to five days in Cataract Canyon.Moab, UT Rafting: Cataract Canyon in Canyonlands National Park
