Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best time of year to go rafting in Utah?

Our Utah rafting season generally runs from March through October. However, the best time to go depends on the specific river you’d like to explore. Our Cataract Canyon and Desolation Canyon trips are available from spring to early fall, while the Yampa River has a limited season from May to July. Be sure to check the specific trip pages for availability.

Not at all! We offer trips for all skill levels. Desolation Canyon and Castle Valley are great for beginners and families. For those seeking more adventure, the Gates of Lodore and Yampa River are ideal for intermediate rafters, while Cataract Canyon offers a thrilling experience for adrenaline junkies and experienced rafters.

The physical demands vary depending on the trip. Some trips are relaxing floats, while others involve paddling through challenging rapids. You can choose to be as active as you like. We offer a range of trips to suit different fitness levels. Please contact us if you have any specific concerns.

Your safety is our top priority. While all outdoor activities have inherent risks, our expert guides have over 30 years of experience navigating these rivers. We provide all necessary safety equipment and a thorough safety briefing before each trip.

Our guides are highly experienced and knowledgeable professionals. They are trained in river navigation, swiftwater rescue, and wilderness first aid to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip for everyone.

You don’t need to be a strong swimmer to enjoy our rafting trips. Everyone is required to wear a personal flotation device (PFD) at all times on the river.

We recommend wearing quick-drying clothing like synthetic shorts and shirts. It’s also a good idea to bring a swimsuit, a hat, sunglasses with a strap, and sunscreen. For footwear, we suggest sandals with a heel strap or water shoes. Avoid cotton clothing, as it stays wet and can make you cold.
