About This Trip

Our Salt River rafting two-day adventure covers 24 miles of wonderfully rugged scenery, where the rapids and geological gems are aplenty. This is the perfect trip for folks who want to see more of the Salt’s rare wilderness, while experiencing some of its most exciting whitewater.

The first day serves up plenty of Class II-IV suds, starting from the picturesque put-in along Primitive Road. You’ll stop for a delicious grilled steak lunch at our established camp, before heading downstream for the biggest rapids of the day. Camp that night is spread across a beautiful remote beach, where your guides will whip up a delectable 3-course dinner. Be ready for some of the best stargazing Arizona has to offer that night.

Day two starts with fresh coffee and breakfast, before heading back for more fun in the whitewater. The chasm’s scenery becomes more dramatic on this day, and by lunch you’ll have floated beneath the cliffs of polished granite in White Rock Canyon, and past the sacred salt banks that give the canyon its name.

Day One Itinerary

10:00 AM

Meet at our Salt River Office

Check in, sign release forms, load gear bags and get dressed for the river! Wetsuits and booties are provided.

Shuttle to river for safety orientation and rafting instructions.

Hit the river!

Tackle “Baptism,” “Island,” “Kiss and Tell,” “Bump and Grind,” “Grumman,” “Mother Rock,” and “Overboard” rapids!

Stop for a hot grilled steak lunch. Vegetarian options available if arranged in advance.

Get back on the river for more exciting whitewater!

Land on a remote beach where you will relax in our deluxe camp. Enjoy quiet fishing (bring your own fishing pole) and/or hiking as your guides prepare a delicious dinner.

After dinner, relax around the fire under the stars.

Day Two Itinerary

Wake up to the smell of hot coffee and enjoy a hearty breakfast.

Pack up camping gear, and get ready for round two!

Mid-day, stop for a delicious deli-style lunch.

Get back on the river to finish out the day’s rapids.

Reach the take out, and hike 2 miles up 800 feet to Apache Road 1. *Apache Road 1 can be just as exciting, if not more, than the whitewater on this trip.

Shuttle back and return to your vehicle around 5 PM.

All guests are encouraged to paddle, but are not required to paddle. Boats will be set up as a paddle or oar boat based on the conditions at the time of the trip.

Would give it 4.5 stars only because it wasn't a jeep and there were 11 people.  We were all compatible, but that is not always the case with a group that large. Overall, the trip was great.

She not only provided us with in-depth information, history and theories about the sites we were seeing, but also took a lot of time at some of the less “popular” dwellings so we could understand the varied communities. Payments & Cancellations

Payment Plan

We start with 35% down, then 35% at 180 days, and 30% at 60 days before your trip. Please call for alternative payment arrangements.

Booking closer to your trip?

Within 180 days: 65% due at booking
Within 60 days: paid in full at booking

Minimum deposits apply.

Cancellation Policy

60+ days: Receive a refund less $200 per person unrecoverable fees.
45+ days: Reschedule for another trip/date, or receive Mild to Wild gift certificate less $200 per person.
Less than 45 days, unfortunately there will be no refund. Substitutions/name changes are allowed.
RoamRight Travel Insurance is recommended to help cover unforeseen circumstances, such as cancelled flights, sickness or medical evacuations.
Guests needing to be evacuated from the canyon will be charged a minimum of $1,000 per person.

Fees

In addition to the listed trip cost, we collect an additional 9% for River and Land Access Fees (ie. Forest Service, BLM, City, Private Land Use) & a $60 Apache Tribal Land Access Fee.

Trip Departure Policy

We reserve the right to switch river/locations based on current conditions and a minimum number of participants. This trip requires 4 participants or paid seats to depart.
