About Camping In Telluride
Because the town Telluride resides at the back of a narrow box canyon, you won’t find but one campground in the immediate-immediate area. Which is for the better in all honesty! Since the mountains surrounding Telluride have far more to offer than the petite town itself.
Keep in mind that the campsites below are on the smaller side, so it’s best to book well in advance if possible (RVers who need hookups we’re talking to you!). Or if you’re going the dispersed route, we recommend traveling on a weekday to get a spot.
When it comes to camping in this neck of the San Juans, there are plenty of other campgrounds that aren’t listed here. They aren’t as close, but assuredly just as beautiful. Check out the Uncompahgre Public Lands Camping Guide for a full list of places to camp in the greater area, if this one doesn’t have one that fits the bill.
