The Battle of the Animas pits local restaurants, tourist shops and lodging establishments against each other in a head-to-head paddle-rafting race down the Animas River.
“We’re always excited for the Battle of the Animas,” said Alex Mickel, owner of Mild to Wild, ” Not only is this a fun way for local businesses to connect, but it also provides a great team-building experience for each business. Many of us work together all year to keep our local tourism industry thriving, this is a great way to gather and just have a superb day on the river!” Eolus Bar & Dining will be defending the first place title and attempt to walk away with the coveted Battle Paddle.
Event Itinerary:
10:00 AM: Arrive at Mild to Wild’s Office located at 50 Animas View Drive with all 6-8 members of your team (feel free to dress up!) to sign liability waivers, get fitted for gear* and depart for the River. *Mild to Wild will provide all team members with personal floatation devices (PFDs), paddles & optional helmets.
11:00 AM: Race starts! After one team claims the title of the river champion, everyone will be shuttled to Steamworks or back to our office to retrieve your car.
12:30 PM: Closing Ceremony and Trophy Presentation along with a complementary BBQ provided at Steamworks Brewing Company. After the race, winning teams will be treated to a complementary barbecue hosted in the Steamworks Brewing Company courtyard during the battle’s award ceremony.
