Surrounded by picturesque peaks are waiting for those that take this high-elevation hike. The trail takes hikers past pictorial waterfalls fed by the lakes. In mid-summer a colorful variety of wildflowers (including Colorado Columbines) speckle the landscape. This hike is a local favorite and a must-see for summer visitors. For those that aren’t ready to hike, the jeep tours in the area are spectacular.

Every year Durango puts that quality food on display at the annual Taste of Durango Festival. The event occurs just as summer starts. Free music, family fun, and awesome eats highlight this event. Organized by the Durango chapter of the Colorado Restaurant Association the Event is designed to highlight Durango’s premiere culinary talents. In addition, the event welcomes in the warm summer weather. Located in the middle of the historic downtown on Main Street along the route of the Durango Silverton Train. Taste of Durango features the best the city has to offer from its breweries as well as restaurants. This year, the festival will take place on May 21st.
