Train up/Bus Down Was Great

We are so chose the Durango Silverton train up/”bus” down option. While the train ride was great, round trip would have been far too long a day. It was October and we bravely chose the open gondola car on the train. We lucked out with a sunny day and we loved the views from the gondola. You have plenty of time in Silverton to grab lunch and look around a bit. There’s really not that much to see in Silverton. Our only problem that day was locating the “bus”. It must have been a slack day, because our bus was a van, which was just fine, but locating it was a bit challenging since it was a plain white van, no logo on the side, and not at all what we were looking for. With that said, it was right where it was supposed to be and we finally connected with our driver Jerry, who was terrific. As we drove down the Million Dollar Highway back to Durango, he entertained us with lots of information on the geology and history of the area – and even a few jokes. It was a great trip back and we arrived back in plenty of time to enjoy the late afternoon and evening in Durango. Thank you Mild-to-Wild and Jerry for a lovely day.
