About This Trip
Our Telluride Jeep Tours travel remarkably beautiful, historical, and technical off roading trails such as Imogene Pass, Ophir Pass, and Last Dollar Road. These journeys are some of the most beloved and sought-after adventures in the Rocky Mountains, and the views and rich character from the road itself are enough to prove why.
Imogene is the second-highest mountain pass in Colorado, climbing to 13,114 feet. It was initially built in 1880 as a mining route in the current-day Telluride area. The pass comes with exposure on narrow ledges, technical switchbacks just as exposed, and rubbled sections that require high clearance and a skilled driver. This had made Imogene inaccessible to many, as not everyone is an experienced off-roader with a rugged vehicle in tow.
Ophir Pass connects Telluride & Silverton, two historic mining towns. This route includes stunningly pristine views of the San Juan’s, including three of Colorado’s famous ’14er’ peaks – Mt. Wilson, Wilson Peak, and El Diente are all over 14,000ft in elevation!).
Last Dollar Road is another favorite of Telluride locals, as it is known for its heavenly views and unimaginable color palette. The Sneffels Range is visible from this route, including Mt. Sneffels (another of Colorado’s many 14,000ft peaks).

Payments & Cancellations
Payment Plan
We start with a 50% deposit, and have the remaining 50% charged 30 days prior to trip. Trips reserved less than 30 days in advance require payment in full.
Please call for alternative payment arrangements.
Cancellation Policy
Receive a full refund with written notice 24 hours or more before the trip. Less notice, no refund.
Trip Change Option
Up to 12 hours prior to departure, trips can be rescheduled for a different day and/or time. The price of this change policy is 5% of the total trip cost. Upgrade only available at time of reservation and must be applied to each seat.
Fees
In addition to the listed trip cost, we collect an additional 9% for River and Land Access Fees (ie. Forest Service, BLM, City, Private Land Use).
Trip Departure Policy
We reserve the right to switch river/locations based on current conditions and a minimum number of participants. This trip requires 4 participants or paid seats to depart.

When is the best time for a Telluride Jeep tour?
Every season in the San Juan Mountains above Telluride offers a unique perspective!
- Late June & July: This is the best time to see the snow fields on Imogene Pass and witness the peak of the vibrant wildflower bloom in the high basins.
- August: Ideal for comfortable mountain weather and exploring the historic ruins of Tomboy Ghost Town under the bright summer sun.
- September & October: A spectacular window for photography as the aspen tree forests turns crimson and the massive aspen groves surrounding Telluride transform into a sea of gold.
When can I go on a Telluride Jeep tour?
Because our Telluride routes reach elevations over 13,000 feet, the season typically begins in May (once the high passes are cleared of snow) and runs through September. We offer morning and afternoon half-day departures that leave directly from downtown Telluride. Our custom-built, open-air vehicles feature canvas tops for shade and protection from rain showers, and we provide cozy blankets for those chilly stretches above the tree line.
What is the minimum age for a Telluride Jeep tour?
We welcome adventurers of all ages, with a minimum age of 4 years old. Please note that Telluride’s trails, such as the route to Imogene Pass, involve steep switchbacks and rugged, technical terrain.Â
Colorado law requires children under 8 years old to be in a car seat or booster. If this applies to your group, please bring your own appropriate car seat for use in our tour vehicles.
What should I wear and bring on my Telluride Jeep tour?
Telluride’s high-altitude weather can shift rapidly, and temperatures at the summit of Imogene Pass (13,114 ft) are often 20 degrees cooler than in the valley. We recommend:
- Clothing: Dress in multiple layers, including a T-shirt, a warm fleece or sweatshirt, and a windbreaker. Long pants are highly recommended.
- Footwear: Sturdy, closed-toe shoes or sneakers are required for safety when stepping out to explore ghost town ruins or scenic overlooks.
- Essentials: High-altitude SPF sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, and a warm hat or beanie.
- Gear: A camera for the legendary 360-degree vistas and a refillable water bottle (we provide water for refills).Â

Are Jeep tours in Telluride safe?
Off-road Jeep touring is an inherently dangerous activity that involves travel over rugged, uneven terrain and narrow shelf roads with significant exposure; therefore, we require all guests to sign a liability waiver and assumption of risk. To minimize these risks, we utilize highly maintained vehicles equipped with roll cages. Our guides are experts in off-road 4×4 navigation and are certified in CPR and First Aid.
