Thanksgiving in Durango

By Mild to Wild   •   November 26, 2014

The holiday season is officially in full swing. Are you looking for some Thanksgiving activities to participate in this week? If so, here are some festive events going on in the area.

Come and check out the community Thanksgiving dinner on November 27th at the LaPlata County Fairgrounds. This is a great opportunity to get together with the Durango community to celebrate the holiday. The event will take place from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Everyone is invited, and it’s free of charge!

Looking to burn off some of those extra holiday calories? Check out the Turkey Trot! This event is a five mile race, and a one mile fun run along a scenic course around Fort Lewis College. Registration for the race begins at 9:00 a.m. and the awards ceremony will take place at 1:00 p.m. at the clock tower. Durango’s annual Turkey Trot is for a good cause also, the registration fees all go towards the La Plata County Humane Society and Manna Soup Kitchen.

Here at Mild to Wild our favorite holiday event is the Singing with Santa and Holiday Tree Lighting! This event takes place on November 28th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Singing with Santa and Holiday Tree Lighting features Santa and Mrs. Claus who will sing and lead the countdown of the lighting of the Christmas Tree in Buckley Park. There will be complimentary cookies, hot chocolate, and kids can have their pictures taken with Santa!

This holiday season we are celebrating by offering 20% off our 2015 trips! Purchase a specific trip out of our 77 trip options or purchase a gift certificate! Find more details on our specials here.
