Durango nights are cooling down, frost is slowly starting to settle in as the fiery fall colors begin to fade into snow capped peaks. Winter is just around the corner, but before you bust out your skis and snowboards there’s one more fantastic fall celebration packed full of Durango events!

This week kicks off the festivities for Halloween, and we all know there’s no place like Durango to don zombie makeup, monster masks, and fairy tale costumes. So crawl out of your yearly hiding places all of you frightening creatures, and let’s celebrate during these fun and spooky Durango events!

Rocky Horror Picture Show

This live rendition of the 1975 cult classic movie, with a twist, is definitely one of the must see Durango events. The show will be at the Henry Strater Theater on Thursday, October 30th at 7:00pm and 10:00pm, Friday, October 31st at 7:00pm and 10:00pm, and Saturday, November 1st at 8:00pm. This science fiction glam rock production is outrageously fun!

KDUR’s Transvestite Ball 

KDUR’s annual Transvestite Ball is the biggest Halloween bash in town and one of many fun-filled Durango events! The ball will take place on Halloween night at the Animas City Theater. This year’s event will be featuring artists such as Fort Knox Five Niko, Soul Atomic, Matteo, and live visuals by Aeon Child. The doors open at 8:30pm. This event is 21 and over. Be sure to dress to impress!

Children’s Halloween Trick or Treating Downtown Event

Durango downtown merchants are hosting another Children’s Halloween event this year which is one of the most loved Durango events. More than 90 downtown businesses will be handing out treats and surprises to children 10 years and younger that are accompanied by an adult. Participating merchants will be displaying bright orange pumpkins in their windows to signify their participation in the event. This is a great way for kids to celebrate Halloween in a safe environment.

Zombie Crawl

The downtown Zombie Crawl is an event that is solely unique to Durango. At midnight on Halloween night, all zombies, ghouls, monsters, and other assorted creatures take to the streets in a peaceful, non-violent, unpermitted parade. This is a great way to check out all of the fantastic Halloween costumes and participate in one of the most unique Durango events. See you in the streets!
