The Benefits of Traveling

How to Achieve Better Health, Wellness and Enhanced Relationships!

It is well know that other than reading, traveling can be one of the most beneficial and significant ways to learn and become more educated. In addition to providing education, traveling has a multitude of benefits. According to the U.S. Travel Association, recent studies have shown a few other significant benefits are health, wellness and enhanced relationships.

Travel often involves additional activity and exercise (even walking) than you do in your normal routine. Whether you are laying on the beach, swimming in the ocean, walking the streets of a historic city – you are doing something! You’ll turn the television off, shut down the computer, and get outdoors. Sunlight is rejuvenating! An active body leads to an active mind, and both of them get a workout when you go on your next vacation.

Wellness, by definition, is the condition of being in good physical and mental health! In addition to requiring one to be more active on a trip, traveling also benefits the mind by enabling people to indulge in new experiences and creating valuable memories. It can also result in bonding experiences, especially for families. Often the trips become traditions that are passed on from generation to generation. Individually it gives an opportunity to relax, distress and decrease burnout.

Travel puts us into environments that are filled with new sorts of stimuli, and this opens up a world of wider mental associations. Our own lives look a lot different once they’re a thousand miles behind us. We can see our challenges in a new light once they’re no longer so physically and emotionally close. New mental associations create fresh perspectives. Suddenly there are many more possibilities than previously realized. When we break an idea free of its usual connotations, we find that there are many more ways to approach it.

Lastly, The U.S. Travel Association reports that couples who travel together are significantly more likely to be satisfied in their relationships. Interestingly, compared to couples who don’t travel, they also communicate well with their partners, enjoy more romance, spend quality time together and share common goals and desires.

These are just a few examples of how beneficial traveling can be, and with Durango being tucked away within the San Juan National Forest it makes a great travel destination for families, couples and singles. With so much opportunity to get out, explore, and travel, it is simply crazy not to take advantage of travel…and reap the benefits!
