I have been to Mesa Verde in the past on my own and it was a wonderful experience but I would highly recommend booking a tour to get the most out of the experience. The guide starts giving you interesting, Durango and Colorado information long before you even enter the park. Its a full day of learning and exploring. I think this is the best way to experience Mesa Verde!
