We booked a combination Silverton jeep tour and return train ride from Silverton to Durango. We screwed up and hopped on the wrong Mild to Wild bus that we thought was heading to Silverton where we would meet up with the jeep tour. Fortunately, Jay (the jeep tour driver) called us on our cell and arranged to pick us up at the Rockwood station. If it hadn’t been for Jay’s initiative, what could have been a disaster turned out to be a fantastic experience.

The jeep tour provided incredible views including abandoned buildings, waterfalls and the incredible Colorado scenery. The changeable weather went from sunshine to rain to hail and back – but we were well covered by the jeep canopy and kept dry and warm with rain gear and blankets provided by Jay. This was an experience well worth the cost of admission.

We had lunch in Silverton then took the amazing train ride back to Rockwood/Durango (the track was damaged between Rockwood and Durango). An awesome experience!
