A Must Way To See Mesa Verde

By Mild to Wild   •   September 4, 2018

I toured Mesa Verde several years ago with a friend and knew they were the folks to ensure Marty’s first trip to Mesa Verde was perfect.. Our tour guide, Kellie, was all that I had hoped for and more. She was extremely knowledgeable about not only the park, but also the geological area, and extremely personable. Her narrative throughout the drive covered both the ecology of the area and the heritage of the Pueblo peoples. Very interesting and informative. I don’t remember my first tour being as comprehensive. As far as the logistics of an 8 hour tour with 5 people, two married transplants from California to Arizona, one single lady from Germany, and a couple from New Mexico (that would be me and Marty), with enough sites and enough time to enjoy without being rushed or bored was seamless. We even all made it through the Cliff Palace without too much stress. Lunch is provided and it was much better than I expected. The sandwich was on freshly baked bread, the potato salad was delicious, chips are chips, and the cookie was ok. Plenty of water was provided through the tour. On my next trip to Mesa Verde, and there will be another one, I sure hope Kellie is still there.
